Where do I find Lee Oskar/Hohner harmonicas in the Philippines? Question: I live in the Philippines and I want to start playing the harmonica. They say Lee Oskar and Hohner is the best brands. Where do I find it here and what store? Answer: in bombay bazars, music stores, or gen. merchanise stores. you won't find them in malls. |

is hohner harmonicas good harmonicas for a beginer? do thay make good instruments? Question: do they make good instruments. is it a good musical sound? would it be a good brand for a beginer? Answer: Yeah, Hohner are good. However, I would recommend the Lee Oskar harmonicas - plastic body, so they do not get so grubby, and produce a loud, clear note. They're about 20 quid, I think. Look out for them - they're in black boxes, with fluorescent stickers and bright lettering. |

What is the best set of Hohner harmonicas i can buy? Question: I just want the essential set nothing really nice?I have dont know what notes things i want either. But i baseicully want 3 for less than 75 dollars Answer: You most likely want to stick with blues harps in the common chords used by guitar. If price is an object there is actually a type of harmonica that has two sets of reeds and a slide that changes the chord sequence from one to the other (slide chromatic). If you want single scale instruments ... the best "set" of diatonic is probably the Piedmont Blues set. It is likely gonna run more than $75 (6 in the set), but you only buy them once if you take care of your instruments properly. |

What is the sedel system as used in harmonicas as opposed to the system used by Hohner? Question: Seydel SYSTEM seems to be important to some. Why Answer: |

How do you make it so a Hohner Marine Band harmonica doesn't cut your lips? Question: I recently bought two Hohner Marine Band harmonicas and I have to say I am in love with them. The only problem is, like most Marine Band owners, they keep cutting my lips. Is there any way to prevent this without taking the instrument apart and risking its destruction? Answer: you can try using sand paper to smooth the edges although that might not be the problem. If you are cutting your lips then maybe it is your technique. You can also try Lee Oscar harmonicas |

Which is the best cheap Hohner Harmonica? Question: I want to learn playing at harmonica and I don't know which is the best harmonica for beginners. Also it need to be a cheap one because I don't have much money. Which do you think is better between PUCK mini, Blues Band and Pocket Pal? Or there are better options at that price? Thanks! Answer: Do they still make the "Marine Band?" If nothing else, the name is really cool. The name "Pocket Pal" seems wimpy. Edit -- I just checked around the internet for a list of recommended harmonicas. Here's a link to a list of models. |

I have a hohner harmonica and i want to get a new one in a different key, which one is best? Answer: Well it depends on what kind of music you are playing, and you didnt mention which key you already have. If playing the blues, common keys for the harp would be C and A. |

Is a Hohner Marine Band 364 diatonic harmonica a lot better than a Lee Oskar major diatonic harmonica? Question: I'm going to buy a harmonica (for playing Bob Dylan songs and the like), and I'm wondering which one I should get. The Hohner Marine Band 364 is $10 more than the Lee Oskar, but is it that much better? Answer: Not better, just different. Lee Oskars tend to have a brighter sound than the Marine Band. I'd lean towards a Marine band if you were doing a lot of blues but a Lee Oskar would certainly fit some folksy Dylan stuff. Also, I've never had any issues with a Lee Oskar out of the box- Hohner I've found to be slightly less reliable in that regard. |

Is the Hohner Fuego Azul a quality harmonica for beginners? Question: This will be my first harmonica and I'm looking for something that isn't a piece of crap but is reasonably cheap. I found one of these on ebay and it looked beautiful. I've heard that Hohner is a top brand, but how is this particular model? Answer: While I'm sure there are exceptions, a harmonica that costs less than $10 is not a quality instrument. You might find that this level of harmonica will not be very responsive -- requires more air to produce the sounds. Other characteristics: thin sound, difficult to bend, sharp edges in your mouth, and reeds that blow out too quickly. A harmonica in the $20 - $30 range is a good bet for a beginner. Yes, Hohner is a respected brand. But they are not the only one. You could look into a Bushman Delta Frost, Suzuki Harpmaster, or Seydel Blues Session. |
